Owen Hill

Hi, I'm Owen! I’m drawn to graphic design because of how it connects creativity and aesthetics with communication and logic. This year has allowed me to build on the strong foundation I developed in my first two years while also giving me the freedom to do projects that dive deeper into my own interests. A lot of my work is inspired by vintage aesthetics, tactile materials, a focus on typography and grounded design principles. I aim to take a thoughtful, structured approach to everything I create.

When I’m not designing, you’ll usually find me drawing, playing video games, or hanging out with my best friend… my dog. I’m also a big fan of music and love collecting vinyl records, CDs, and cassettes.

Audio Formats Boxset

  • Print Design
  • Editorial

This objective of this project was to explore the evolution of audio media formats and how advancements in recording technology have changed the way we listen to music.  COMPACTAUDIO aims to showcase this idea through a curated box set that includes a visual catalogue, a process book, and a cassette mixtape.

Creative Nest

  • Branding

The objective of this project was to create a distinct and engaging brand for the Manitoba Writers’ Guild’s youth programs, enhancing their visibility and appeal within the community. The result is Creative Nest, a welcoming space where young writers can build skills, connect with others, and grow before “flying off” on their own.

Boulder Sans

  • Typography
  • Print Design

Boulder Sans is a display typeface intended for magazines, posters and other materials with large headlines. The font is inspired by the clean, bold lines and blocky, structured designs of brutalist and mid-century modern aesthetics. Using Boulder Sans, various designs were created to showcase the font in its intended environment.
